Three generations. One trade. Nearly a century of care.

The Lipton family has served Glasgow's families since 1927, around 88 years of combined experience in the monumental trade.

1927 · Bridgeton

Philip Lipton's window

It began in a grocer's shop on London Road, Bridgeton. Philip Lipton sold fruit and flowers, with small memorials among them in the window. Families came for one thing and found someone who could help with another, harder thing. Word travelled the way it does in Glasgow: quietly, and for good.

The second generation

Gerald makes it the family trade

Philip's son Gerald grew the memorial side into the family's whole trade, serving families across the city for decades. He retired in 1997 and passed away in 2005, and many of the stones he lettered still stand in Glasgow's cemeteries, cared for today by the same firm.

Charles, forty years at the bench

Charles, the third generation, established our display yard at 5 Crosshill Road, Bishopbriggs, and has now spent forty years in the monumental trade. Some of the memorials we clean and re-letter today were first cut by his grandfather.

That continuity is the quiet promise behind everything we do: the people who make your memorial are the people who'll look after it, and the family name above the door is the one that's been trusted since 1927.
